| LIFE WORTH LIVING by Heinz Wegener - Atlanta, Georgia Real Happiness But where was all this happiness that this success should have brought me? To my surprise, I was unfulfilled, unhappy with what I had, and often not satisfied with work. But where could I go? I had reached the top of my ladder of success, and there was nowhere else to go. By this time, I had drifted from my family, had almost no friends, and was relying more and more on alcohol for my peace. Then in 1980 at a church picnic which Nan held at our house, I met Clarence Burkholder who invited me to a Bible study called Inquiry Class at the Catholic church. Even though I had lots of reasons why I didn't want to go, I went with him. As I walked into the room at church and saw other people who were also searching for more in their lives, my heart was deeply touched, and I knew I had begun a process that would at last bring me peace. In the process of attending the Inquiry Class, I believed that Jesus was who the Bible said He was and committed my life to Him. Hungering for more of Jesus, Nan and I attended Cursillo, Marriage Encounter, and helped with the Inquiry Class for several years. |
